The highly anticipated release of the Nothing Phone 2 is just around the corner, with an official date set for July 11th, confirmed by the official Twitter account of Nothing. This comes almost a year after the launch of its predecessor, the Phone 1. The upcoming device features an upgraded Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 chipset and a larger battery. This time, it will be available in the US market. All of these are confirmed by Nothing themselves. Nothing has been teasing us with a series of specification teasers, a strategy that Carl Pei, the founder of Nothing and co-founder of OnePlus, is known for.

Nothing Phone 2

Looking at the teaser image that was revealed today, it appears that the Phone 2 will retain the stylish “glyph” notification lights found on the back of the Phone 1. These lights not only serve as a fashionable touch, but they also provide practical functionality by flashing in different patterns to indicate various types of incoming notifications, charging indicators, and many more. The Phone 1, with its distinctive blinky lights, was a solid midrange phone that had a somewhat limited release in the US. However, things are about to change with the Phone 2, as Carl Pei has confirmed its arrival in the US later this year.

It won’t be an easy task, though, as the US Android market is largely dominated by Samsung, leaving other brands like Google and Motorola to compete for a smaller share. Nevertheless, the Phone 2’s unique design, especially from the back, could work in its favor if it finds a place alongside Galaxy and Pixel phones on carrier store shelves. Simply putting on a light show won’t be enough for Nothing to take on the established players in the market. We’ll have to wait until July 11th to discover the full range of features and capabilities that the Phone 2 has to offer.

Nothing OS 2

Nothing also recently teased their new Nothing OS 2.0 which will be based on the new Android 14 which Google just released in the Google I/O. Nothing is promising some huge changes in the software. There will be more visual changes to match the overall theme of Nothing with dots and matrix. Recently we saw a similar design theme like this on their Wallpaper app. More details on Nothing OS 2.0 will also be revealed at the Nothing event, so we have to wait for the official details.
