OnePlus, a well-known name in the smartphone industry, is all set to join the foldable phone trend. The company made an official announcement in March 2023, stating that it plans to enter the foldable phone market in the third quarter of the same year. While OnePlus has been keeping the specific details of its upcoming foldable device under wraps, thanks to the famous leaker OnLeaks and Smartrpix.com we now have a first look at the highly anticipated OnePlus V Fold / Oneplus Fold, even before its official announcement.
Oneplus V Fold/Oneplus Fold/Oneplus Open?
It should be emphasized that the name of OnePlus’ first folding phone is not yet final and may undergo changes. Onleaks on Twitter said it could be either Oneplus V Fold or Oneplus Fold.

But another leaked information claims that the Fold will be called Oneplus Open
But we don’t know for sure what will be the final name. For simplicity, on this post, we will call it just Oneplus Fold.
Is Oneplus Fold a rebranded OPPO Find N2?
Addressing the early rumors surrounding the OnePlus Fold, there have been speculations suggesting that OnePlus might rebrand the OPPO Find N2 as the OnePlus Fold. However, this leak clarified and debunked such claims. This leak is based on images of a prototype unit in the testing stage, which usually closely resemble the final product. While minor adjustments can be expected, it is important to note that the OnePlus Fold will undoubtedly have its own unique identity and will not simply rebrand the OPPO Find N2 just like Oneplus did with their budget model smartphones.
Design of the Oneplus Fold
The upcoming OnePlus Fold is expected to feature an impressive vegan leather back, providing both a premium look and a comfortable feel in hand. The leaked images of the OnePlus Fold also reveal a triple rear camera system, prominently displaying the iconic Hasselblad branding.
Notably, the presence of a periscope lens enables optical zoom features similar to those seen on the Samsung S23 Ultra. This periscope zoom feature is missing from Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold lineup. And leaks suggest the upcoming Z Fold 5 again doesn’t seem to provide any periscope zoom feature.
One of the signature features often found in OnePlus flagships, the beloved alert slider, will also be included in the OnePlus Fold. Additionally, the power button of the OnePlus Fold will seamlessly integrate a fingerprint sensor, just like Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold lineup.
When you turn the device around, your attention will be captured by the large screen with slim bezels dominating the front. The Front display seems to be wider than the Z Fold and looks much more like the Vivo X Fold series.
At the center of the front screen, we can see a punch-hole selfie camera. Upon unfolding the screen, an inner selfie camera can be found in the left-side corner of the phone. We are not sure if it will be an under-display camera like the Z Fold lineup, but looking at the renders it seems highly unlikely.
The leaked renders also confirm the presence of a triple speaker system on the OnePlus Fold, promising an immersive audio experience. The hinge mechanism appears to have drawn inspiration from the OPPO Find N2 and Samsung Galaxy Z Fold lineup. But it’s not yet confirmed that will the Oneplus Fold feature a waterdrop hinge like the upcoming Z Fold 5.
It is worth noting that while the renders have showcased a prototype of the OnePlus Fold featuring a vegan leather finish, OnePlus may also introduce variants of the device that utilize more traditional and premium materials such as metal or glass. This will provide users with a wider range of options to suit their aesthetic preferences and cater to individual tastes.
So far in the leaked images, we can only see the Oneplus Fold in Black Color. But another popular leaker IceUniverse said in a tweet that the Oneplus Fold will also come in a Golden Color. He also said the Oneplus Fold’s comprehensive competitiveness is very strong just like Huawei’s Mate X3 (which is a very good foldable but only available in China) and Oneplus Fold will have a strong set of Camera and Good sound quality.
I'm here to leak some new information,Regarding the first Fold model of OnePlus, its comprehensive competitiveness is very strong, no less than that of Mate X3, especially in terms of sound quality and camera. pic.twitter.com/tVvDojUXms— ICE UNIVERSE (@UniverseIce) June 20, 2023

Furthermore, it is still uncertain whether the OnePlus Fold will be available outside of China or not. As of now, there is no official confirmation regarding the device’s global availability.
