Update – [11:52 AM EST] The issue seems to be solved right now as Facebook, Instagram, and Threads all appear to be online again.

Facebook, Instagram, and Threads, all owned by Meta, are currently facing widespread issues, leaving many users unable to access their accounts or refresh feeds. The outage began around 10 AM ET, affecting users globally. Some users are also experiencing difficulties logging into their Meta Quest headsets.

Reports on DownDetector indicate a significant spike in outage reports for all three platforms, with users encountering error messages and being logged out of their accounts on Facebook. Instagram users, including us. We are unable to refresh the feeds.

This outage mirrors a similar incident in 2021 when a configuration problem disrupted access to Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp for several hours. However, WhatsApp appears to be unaffected this time.

Threads, another Meta-owned platform, is also experiencing a complete outage, displaying error messages when users attempt to access it on mobile devices.

Despite the widespread disruptions, Meta has yet to acknowledge the issue officially. The lack of official communication has left users frustrated, as Meta does not maintain official status pages for its consumer products.

The outage’s global impact suggests a significant technical issue within Meta’s infrastructure. While Meta operates a status page for its business products, it indicates that those services are functioning normally, further highlighting the severity of the current outage.

Users affected by the outage are eagerly awaiting updates from Meta, hoping for a swift resolution to restore access to these popular social media platforms.
